New Routines!

Good morning and happy Tuesday!

I just returned from my final vacation of the summer and I have about three weeks left until school starts back up. It’s probably time that I start getting myself back into a routine. Let’s start with my new wake-up time of 4:30 am. That’s right, I said it, 4:30 am!

Wake Up: 4:30 – 4:45

This is not exactly a new time. At the beginning of last school year, I had a strict wake up time of 4:30 and slowly but surely I feel off of that routine and began waking up at 6:30. (Don’t judge me!) When I wake up, the first thing I do is open the curtains. While this may seem silly to include, it’s actually really important to your routine. I have black out curtains so it is virtually pitch black in my room, even when the sun is shining bright outside. I go through and open all of the curtains around the house and then head back upstairs to make my bed and brush my teeth. This is a pretty quick and easy process, so I only need 10-15 minutes for this.

Workout: 4:45 – 5:45

This is something I have really struggled to keep up with since I started sleeping in. I personally feel it’s more important to workout in the morning so that you’re less likely to put it off after a long day of work. On rest days, I plan to work on my blog posts so that they are ready for Sundays! (Noon is the goal, in case you were curious) I use BeachBody on Demand and I love it. They have many different workouts tailored specifically to what you need to work on and how much time you have to workout. If you do not have it, I genuinely suggest taking a trial period! Depending on the program I am using at the time, this workout can take anywhere from 30-60 minutes. So I leave an hour block of time to allow for whichever I choose to do.

Get Ready: 5:45 – 6:45

This block of time includes a little bit of everything. This includes; shower, hair, make-up and get dressed. As you all know, I plan my outfits in advance because it saves me a lot of time in the morning and it prevents me from always wearing my “go-to” outfit. You know what I’m talking about. That typical outfit that you throw on when you’re in a rush and don’t have time to check the weather or try things on to make sure it matches. I do this on Sundays to get it all out of the way. My make-up is also super easy because I pretty much wear my make-up the same way everyday. I am a teacher, so it’s not like I really go all out with lashes and highlighter. I mean let’s be real, it’s just too much work.

Breakfast: 6:45 – 7:00

This changes from time to time. I do meal prep my breakfast and lunches on Sundays. It saves me time every morning and I’m able to make sure that I am not having to run to Dunkin if I’m running late. I typically make breakfast sandwiches or egg muffins because they are packed with protein and super easy to reheat. My meals are already prepped, so all I have to do is pack my lunch bag and head out the door.

My contract hours are from 7:30-4 pm. I only live about a 5 minute drive from my school, but I like to arrive early to make sure that have everything prepped that I need. Also, it’s a new school year, new grade and new curriculum. I don’t like to take my work home with me, so I think it’s important to give myself that extra 30 minutes each morning to prep anything needed for the day. If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I have slowly been training myself to wake up early so that it is not a complete shock to my system when school starts back up.

What other things do you include in your morning routine? I am always looking for more efficient ways to spend my time! Don’t hesitate to comment! Until next week!
